Hytale PreRelease 5 – Chest Buffs & 3D Sound
The Hytale developers decided not to wait until next week and rolled out the first pre-release of the fifth update on Saturday. While there are no major changes to the core mechanics, a large-scale rebalancing of items and minor details has begun. Overall this update is a good one for those who spend all their time in Survival mode.
Inventory limits and new resource storage stacks
– Now chests themselves can be stacked 25 at a time in a single slot. Previously, they took up too much space in bags. Aparently, this is just the beginning of a major rebalance. In Hytale 5 there is already a distinction: building blocks usually stack up to 100 units, while functional items like workbenches take up an entire slot. It seems that in upcoming patches for version 5 or 6 the developers will revise the limits for many other categories.
Rare Resources in Zone 4
In Zone 4 its now easier to find goat willow, which players call the golden tree. It now appears much more frequently in towns and forest biomes. If you go to a builder’s workbench you can craft golden planks from this wood.
Immersion Through Sound
Hytale now features full 3D sound. You can easily test this by putting on headphones and rotating the camera while mining blocks. The impact sound is now clearly localized, and if the source is to the left of the character it will only be heard in the left channel.
Work on Text and Code
The developers have begun standardizing names, correcting the spelling of colors and technical terms. For example the word “gray” in block names is now being unified eliminating differences between British and American spellings. The patch also fixed a number of minor bugs in the modding tools.
