Minecraft: Bedrock 1.21.124 – Hotfixes

Minecraft: Bedrock Edition has received another hotfix update, now version 1.21.124. At the time of posting, the update is available on all Bedrock platforms: iOS, Android, Windows, Xbox, Switch, and PlayStation. Is it safe to update, considering the number of bugs that existed prior to 1.21.124? The last two versions have been quite stable, and this one is unlikely to be an exception, so yes, please update.

Returning issues

Receiving four hotfixes for one major Minecraft Bedrock update is remarkable. We haven’t seen this in a long time, but two issues have also been noted in this version. For some reason, every time you launch the game, it switches to full-screen mode, and another issue is related to the rendering distance. The settings are not saved! Every time you launch BE, it automatically sets 96 chunks. This issue was fixed before but has returned. In general, a couple of issues remain, but nothing critical for now.

Cursor improvements

The cursor fix is still not fully implemented, but the situation has improved significantly, although you can notice a slight twitch. There are workarounds through the Logitech settings (if you have it). Twitching still happens, but it’s better then before.

Developer notes

Let’s move on to all the changes in 1.21.124. The developers added a note: “Thank you all for your feedback on the quality of the game.” Please note that the bug tracker itself is still unstable, so many people are unable to submit proper bug reports.

Performance fixes

Now let’s see what has been fixed.

Performance and stability: various crashes have been fixed. That is, those situations when you are playing and suddenly: “What? Why?” – yes, that has been fixed. Also fixed is a texture memory leak that occurred on servers when many players were logging in and out.

Some bugs

Input: Fixed a bug that allowed the mouse to interact with external windows (such as pop-up notifications). There is a bug report and it was a huge problem. The mouse cursor moved in the background during gameplay, and players reported it en masse. There is a video example: even when the player opened the task manager, Minecraft PE 1.21.123 still considered the cursor active in the game.

Fixed a bug that could block controls when using IME. There was a report that CJK input methods were blocked when the game was launched, causing incorrect inputs and preventing the player from moving. The user who reported this had done so before, so thank you to everyone who sends in bugs. This was a problem in Minecraft Bedrock Preview, but it somehow made its way into the main version. Sometimes bugs from the Preview make it into the release, and this is one of those cases.

Realms connection fix in 1.21.124

One of the most important fixes is the network protocol. Fixed a packet check that prevented players from joining Realms when using certain add-ons. Has anyone encountered the BOAT error? This usually happened on mobile devices and Switch. It turned out to be a Realms issue, and some add-ons for Minecraft Bedrock 1.21 caused the connection to crash. A very annoying bug, but they say it’s fixed now. If you’ve had this problem, update and then the connection to Realms should work again.

What bothers a lot of players is that you can’t cancel updates in Bedrock, especially on Windows, where it is forcibly installed. MCBE has had great success this year, but the latest update has ruined everything. We hope that everything will stabilized before 2026. Fortunately, the current update has become safer, although there are still minor issues with cursor jumps, but the situation has improved significantly. If you find new bugs, please continue to report them.
