Minecraft 1.21.11: Snapshot 25W43A

Let’s jump right into the changes in snapshot 25W43A. All changes and Minecraft 1.21.11 server files after the description.

Snapshot 25W43A

New visual changes to the spear

The “Lunge” enchantment and the spear’s charging attack have been changed. The textures of all spears have also been slightly reworked. The difference is almost imperceptible, but here’s a comparison: on the left are the new textures and model, on the right are the old ones.

The spear is now slightly larger and shifted to the right in the hand. It’s a minor but visually pleasing update. The charge attack now has more visual feedback-the spear bounces back slightly when it hits. Combined with the sound of the strike, it feels more realistic. In addition, this attack now deals more damage to both the player and mobs.

Updated “Dash” enchantment and hunger consumption

Now for the “Dash” enchantment. It no longer reduces the durability of the spear, but now consumes the player’s hunger. If you don’t have enough food, you won’t be able to use the dash. Dash I requires 1.5 stamina, Dash II requires 2, and Dash III requires 2.5. This is a new way of balancing-not through durability, but through hunger. This is implemented through the new “apply_exhaustion” effect, which can also be used in custom enchantments.

Animation fixes and combat mechanics improvements

Another fix is that the spear charging animation is now mirrored when used in the left hand to look the same as in the right.

Underwater changes and new rules for nautiluses

Now for the underwater changes. Nautilus and zombie nautilus mobs can no longer be placed in a boat, but they can still be led on a leash. Added a sound when placing a saddle underwater. Previously, zombie nautiluses would suffocate on land, but now they survive if protected from the sun.

The world border now depends on game ticks

The world border now depends on game ticks rather than real time. This means that it does not move when the game is paused. Since it is tied to ticks, it now works with the /tick command. For example, if you speed up the ticks, the border will expand faster. This also fixes an old bug related to border movement.

Minor bugs have also been fixed, such as flags with incorrect textures. The rest of the changes are related to the current development cycle.
