Hytale Update 2 – What’s new
The second update for Hytale is out, and here are the most interesting highlights. The developers didnt just tweak the numbers, they added a bunch of cool features, from necromancy to character appearance customization. Lets take a closer look.
Bone magic and new grimoires
Update 2 introduces summoning mechanics. Now, Ptorian skeletons drop skulls which are needed to use the new book, the Grimoire. If you have several of these books in your inventory, you can raise an entire army of bone servants (up to five). The skeletons will follow you around for five minutes, or until you kick the bucket.
Tool progression and loot
The pickaxe system has been significantly revamped. Now you cant dig for rare adamantite with just anything, and you’ll have to craft a thorium or cobalt tool. The speed of work now directly depends on the effectiveness of the pickaxe; if iron barely scratches the blocks, then an adamantite pickaxe destroys almost everything with one click. Even complex volcanic rocks yield to it much faster than before.
Dangerous mobs and smart NPCs
Survival has become tougher. Polar bears now hit so hard that they can send you to respawn with just two attacks. Skeletons have also been strengthened. Interestingly, NPCs have learned to fight back against those who like to build upwards. Now if you try to abuse the height mechanic, stones will simply fly at you.
Beauty and comfort
For those who like to tinker with their appearance, we’ve added a cool feature. Now any piece of armor can be hidden in your inventory by simply clicking on the eye icon. Want to run around in top-of-the-line gear but still see your character’s face? You got it. We’ve also added new mouth options (from vampire fangs to orc teeth), and accessories like bandit masks and eye patches.
