Minecraft Java 26.2: The Chaos Update
The Minecraft 26.2 update, titled Chaos Cubed, has already reached the beta and preview stages and will soon become the first snapshot. It starts with complete chaos in physics and also adds new yellow biomes.
Yellow Puddles and Dangerous Gas
Sulfur Springs have been added to the surface of the overworld in Minecraft 26.2. These are small lakes that are easy to recognize by their distinctive blocks and rising smoke. If you see such a place, know a new biome lies directly beneath you.
But be carefull, as standing near these pools is harmfull to your health. The gas causes nausea in both players and mobs and its all due to a block called Active Sulfur. It makes the water bubble and release toxic fumes. If you remove this block the nausea and bubbles will dissapear.
Sulfur Caves
If you dig beneath the spring, you’ll end up in the Sulfur Caves. This is a new biome in 26.2, known for bright yellow sulfur and red cinnabar. Structurally they look like stalactite caves, sometimes stretching to enormous heights, or intersecting with abandoned mines.
Sulfur Cube
The Sulfur Cube lives in the Sulfur Caves. At first glance, it looks like a slime but it behaves completely differently. It loves to eat blocks you throw at it and completely changes its properties depending on the blocks it is fed.
- Slime turns it into a bouncing ball
- Iron makes it heavy and sluggish.
- Ice makes it slide across surfaces
- Diamonds or netherite add weight, causing the cube to barely fly off on impact.
New blocks in Minecraft 26.2
Two large sets of blocks have been added: sulfur and cinnabar.
- Sulfur – Mojang slightly changed its texture so it doesnt blend in with concrete.
- Cinnabar – An image of an eight-legged spider has been added to the carved variant. Both types of stone can be turned into bricks, steps, slabs and fences using a stone cutter.
Technical fixes
On Windows, they fixed mouse sensitivity which used to suddenly increase. Xbox owners should notice that shadows are now cleaner and free of artifacts. They also worked on bows so they dont disappear from your hands under certain graphics settings plus destroyers now properly trample flower beds and foliage just like in the Java edition.
