Minecraft 1.21.11 Pre-Release 1 (Java)
The first pre-release 1.21.11 for the Mounts of Mayhem update is out. Now the countdown to the full release begins, and most of the updates will be dedicated to bug fixes and gameplay improvements.
What’s fixed/changed
Fixes for spears
Speed now correctly increases spear damage again. Spears can now deal damage to the same mob multiple times when discharged if you continue to swing. Holding a spear no longer prevents interaction with objects, and the attack indicator takes spear range into account, which seems like something many people have been waiting for.
Spider webs and sweet berry bushes no longer interfere with the use of the “Dash” enchantment, and now dashing does not consume stamina and hunger on stairs. In the creative inventory, spears now come after swords, and mobs such as skeletons and drowned no longer pick them up. Piglins have also learned to attack with a spear charge.
New and fixed mobs
Camel husks no longer fall through the ground when ridden, and zombie nautiluses cannot be tethered while someone is riding them. Jumping on nautiluses on land no longer causes underwater sounds. The “Looting” enchantment now works for shell drops. Foxes no longer eat buckets of fish, and undead creatures burn again during the day in dry biomes.
Visual improvements
Block entities now appear during the chunk spawn process, rather than immediately. Texture filtering has become more flexible: you can choose None, RGS, or Anisotropic. Black outlines on flat blocks no longer appear when the map is disabled, and the End Dragon’s fog is now independent of the weather in the normal world.
A little about technical stuff
Shift+clicking on an entity name in chat now inserts the UUID again. The game roll command now accepts full rule identifiers. An attack range component has been added for all weapons. Buckets of fish no longer have consumable components.
Resource packs and textures
New leather armor textures for horses and the Alpha Cut Off Bias field in MC meta files.
That’s all the changes in this version! Stay tuned for updates so you don’t miss out on new features.
