Hytale 4 Pre-Release 3 – Voice Chat, New Potions and Customization
The third part of the fourth Hytale update was released exactly one week after the second part. And finally, they added the thing they had been talking about for several weeks. It was constantly mentioned because it was clear that the feature was already ready, but they kept postponing it. Now it has appeared in Pre-Release 3.
How to enable voice chat in Hytale?
The main change in this pre-release is the built-in voice chat. It is disabled by default so you need to enable it manually in the settings. To do this, go to the audio settings. There you will see a section called “voice” or “voice chat”. Click the switch to enable the feature.
Once enabled, you can configure several parameters:
- voice chat volume
- microphone selection (usually the default device is selected)
- voice transmission mode
There are two modes:
- Push-to-Talk
- Voice Active
You can also adjust the sensitivity. If you set the value too low the microphone will pick up silence and background noise. Keep in mind that this is simply how Hytale works. So its usually more convenient to use push-to-talk.
Hytale v4 also added built-in noise supression.
Spatial sound and interaction with players
Voice chat works with distance. The further away a player is the quieter you hear them. If they are standing nearby, their voice will be loud and if they are far away it will be quiet. At the same time, Hytale server developers will be able to adjust the communication distance. For example you can set the number of blocks at which players can hear each other.
A visual indicator also appears during conversation. If you hold down the chat button your character will be displayed nearby and other players can see who is speaking.
Mouth animation during conversation
Another interesting detail appeared with voice chat. When a character speaks their mouth opens. Right now its pretty basic, the mouth just opens during conversation. Maybe in the future it will be more dynamic but definetly not in Hytale v5.
New farming tools
In addition to voice chat the update added some new content. New sickles for harvesting have appeared.
- Copper sickle – 200 durability
- Iron sickle – 400 durability
Previously in v3 there were only rusty steel and primitive sickles.
The sickle allows you to harvest several plants at once with a single swing. For example you can harvest several beds at once instead of harvesting them one by one with your hands.
Changes to alchemy and potions
Hytale Pre-Release 3 also affected alchemy. Levels 9 and 10 were removed from the farmer’s workbench but the alchemy workbench was expanded. Levels 3, 4 and 5 were added to it. The potion system was also significantly reworked. Now there are five sizes of potions, from the smallest to the largest.
For example healing potions work something like this:
- Small potion – restores 15% health immediately and another 15% over 5 seconds (30% total)
- Small potion – 15% immediately and 30% over 5 seconds (45%)
- Regular potion – 25% immediately and 35% later (60%)
- Large potion – 25% immediately and 50% later (75%)
- Huge potion – 35% immediately and 55% later (90%)
The stack size also varies. For example small potions can be stacked in groups of five while huge potions can only be stacked one at a time. The same system is now used for stamina and energy potions. In addition several decorative potions of different colors have been added: blue, green, pink, purple and orange. They have no effects and are used purely for decoration.
New hairstyles for customization
The update also added 7 new hairstyles for character customization.
- Afro
- Big afro
- Long dreadlocks
- Double fluffy dreadlocks
- Dreadlocks with shaved temples
- Hairstyles with star-shaped braids
- Another variation of dreadlocks styled upwards
Apparently this may be the last part of the fourth update and the next major release of Hytale may come out as early as Tuesday, around March 10.
