Minecraft 26.1: Snapshot 4 – Baby Mounts
Mojang continues to develop the idea of cuteness in its latest updates, and the fresh Snapshot 4 is direct proof of this. The developers have clearly set out to redesign the young inhabitants of the world striving to make them more detailed and unique. Read the full changelog at the link below, even though its not very long .
Major stable update
Whereas before foals looked like simply smaller copies of adult horses, in Minecraft 26.1 they now have their own models and textures. The changes affect not only regular horses but also donkeys and mules. In addition to the visual aspect, the developers have worked on the physics; and now the hitboxes correspond to their new bodies, so they dont get stuck in textures as often. Also, small horses now make sounds more appropriate for their age.
Rare species and technical nuances
Snapshot 4 added zombie horse foals and skeleton horses. So far, you won’t be able to encounter them in survival mode as they are only available through spawn eggs in creative mode or using console commands.
The authors didnt forget about birds either. The texture of the chickens’ wings has been improved. Perhaps there was an extra pixel there, but now the model looks cleaner.
On the one hand, the new models look modern, but on the other, many note the strange proportions of the heads, which seem overly elongated. While fans are waiting for updates for cows and sheep (which still seem plastic to many), Mojang is systematically refining those they can get their hands on in Minecraft 26.1. Visually, the new textures may seem definetly flat, especially on donkeys, but this is the general style of the current stage of development.
