Minecraft Bedrock 26.20.22 – Subtitles Update

Lately, people have been asking Where are the subtitles? and they were expected to be added in 26.0, the first update of the year. Many said they would be released in the beta and preview versions, but in the end subtitles didnt make it into either version 26.0 or 26.10.

Now it’s clear why. Subtitles are only available in the beta and preview versions and havent yet been added to the full release (currently 26.10). The official changelog states that they will remain in the test versions while they are being refined and bugs are being fixed.

New subtitle settings in Bedrock 26.20.22

Several important settings have been added. You can now adjust the display duration, choose the location and disable specific sound types. For example, you can hide your own sounds (footsteps, etc.) or weather and background noises. All of these options are located in the Accessibility – Gameplay section.

Position and usability

Previously subtitles were only in the top-right corner and got in the way. In Minecraft Bedrock 26.20.22, you can move them to the bottom-right corner and adjust the duration, for example up to 3 seconds. This already looks much better and is closer to the Java Edition, but it still lacks smooth fade-in and fade-out effects.

Why Subtitles Are Useful

The arrows indicate the direction of the sound, which helps you find caves, navigate around mobs, understand where the sound is coming from and so on. When can we expect them in the release? Apparently subtitles havent been added to the release yet precisely because they’re still being refined. Most likely they’ll appear in the next update, MCPE 26.11.

Event and Possible Cape

A new community event is launching: starting March 27, name mob hatchlings; starting April 3 feed them dandelions. Also starting March 31 there will be a sale in the Marketplace, and a cape may appear, though this hasn’t been confirmed yet.

Major Beta Changes

• The damage angle slider now affects the player’s hands
• Statistics bugs have been fixed
• Infinite offline multiplayer loading has been fixed
• Damage sounds now play correctly when falling
• Mushroom lighting has been fixed
• Growth particles have been improved (no longer inside mobs)

Mob Changes

• Increased hitboxes for baby mobs (camel, hoglin, etc.)
• Armor now centers correctly
• Hitboxes are now closer to Java

Party System

Added a separate party chat:

• Works across worlds
• Is separate from the regular chat
• Allows players to join Realms together

Realms and World Generation

• Added an administrator role
• Improved stability
• You can now create worlds with a single biome (e.g., dripstone caves)
