Bedrock Edition 1.21.11X Problems: Lag, Memory Leaks and Deleted Worlds

It’s clear that Minecraft Bedrock Edition is going through a rough patch right now, and players have been dealing with issues since at least 1.21.114. There have been memory leaks on PlayStation and Windows, lag problems, bugs, disappearing worlds, and more, but the good news is that a hotfix has been released. The bad news is that it hasn’t fixed all the issues reported by players. Another hotfix is expected to be released.

Bugs and feedback to Mojang

Every day, comments like “I’m getting this bug in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.120, how do I fix it?” appear. Even if there is no separate article about it, it does not mean that the problem is unknown, because all information is passed on to the developers.

Mojang team representatives thanked the community for the updates and asked them to continue reporting any bugs they find, because if players don’t send reports, bugs won’t be fixed, lol.

If similar problems had occurred in Java Edition, there would have been a real scandal in the community, and everything would have been fixed faster. The problem with Bedrock is that the game runs on multiple platforms and behaves differently on each of them, which is why updates take longer. In addition, the Bedrock community often doesn’t know who to contact.

Hotfix and remaining bugs

Although Minecraft Bedrock has done a lot of things right this year, the latest update has been extremely unsuccessful. Some players, even with powerful PCs, were getting 5-10 frames per second due to memory leaks that consumed up to 31 GB of RAM.

Similar issues were observed on PlayStation. It all started after changes to the location of game files on Windows and the addition of Vibrant Visuals support. The update and these changes, released on the same day, caused a lot of crashes, and Mojang’s official explanations were not clear enough.

It is important to understand that aggression towards developers does not solve anything. Constructive criticism and transparency are needed. If you encounter errors, report them through the bug tracker, as without this there will be no fixes.

What has already been fixed and what to expect next

After the hotfix, the following issues were resolved:

• Fixed a bug on Windows that caused the cursor to jerk when the task manager was open.

• Fixed a bug where the camera would suddenly turn after closing the interface.

• Restored support for IME input (CJK).

• Fixed crashes when using the datadrive renderer and when installing large add-ons on PS5.

• Fixed a bug where changes to resource packs were not applied in the game.

However, there are still difficulties with importing worlds and textures without restarting the game. These issues are likely related to the new file storage system, and another update is expected.

Minecraft Bedrock has come a long way in the last year, but communication between the studio and players needs to be improved. Developers should be a little more open, because the community just wants understanding and feedback.
