What’s included in the Chaos Cubed update?

Sulfur Depths

The Chaos Cubed update begins with a new biome. Sulfur Caves now generate at the deep shale level, and their toxic yellow and blood red hues make them unmistakable.

Active Sulfur

This is a unique block that only shows its properties underwater. If sulfur ends up in a lake, it starts to release gas particles, which is bad for the player. Prolonged exposure to sulfur water causes nausea and if you dont get out in time you’ll start to die. As you can see, Bedrock 26.30 will introduce new challenges with sulfur lakes.

Cinnabar

In 26.30, builders will get access to two new lines of vibrant materials. Each has its own carved and polished variations.

  • Cinnabar Bricks (block, steps, slab, wall).
  • Carved Cinnabar Block (with a unique pattern).

Sulfur Family (Yellow):

  • Sulfur (base block).
  • Polished Sulfur (block, steps, slab, wall).
  • Sulfur bricks (block, steps, slab, walls).
  • Carved sulfur block.

Sulfur Cube

The Sulfur Cube is a peaceful mob that lives in the new sulfur caves. It looks like a soft yellow cube that just bounces around, but its main value is in its ability to absorb items.

If you throw a block in front of it, the cube will suck the item into itself. At that moment it will freeze, stop moving on its own and become invulnerable. Basically, these cubes turn into physical objects. To get the block back, use scissors-this will also return the cube to its normal state.

The cube’s life cycle

  • If you kill a large wild cube, it will split into two small ones.
  • Small cubes eventually grow into adults.

How the absorption mechanic works in Chaos Cubed

When a cube eats a block, it takes on its physical properties. Below is a list of confirmed interactions.

  • Iron block. It has high gravity and a massive fall speed. It barely bounces off the ground.
  • Wool. The cube becomes light, falls very slowly and has low friction.
  • Wood (any logs). Grants the mob super jumping ability. It bounces off surfaces with tremendeous force, like a rubber ball.
  • Ice block. Makes the cube’s surface slippery. It will slide across grass or stone.
  • Regular stone. The cube barely jumps, landing exactly where it was thrown.

Launch Mechanics – The cube’s range and flight height depend on the damage of the item you hit it with. A fist (1 damage) will only nudge it slightly while a netherite axe (10 damage) will deliver the strongest blow.

Release Date

Although the exact release date is unknown, Mojang plans to release Minecraft: Bedrock 26.30 in May or June 2026. Considering that the previous Tiny Takeover update is set to release on March 24, three months should be enough to develop the Chaos Cubed Update. The first beta versions will likely appear much sooner, probably in just a few weeks.
